K-pop superstar BTS' 2017 hit single "Spring Day" has received platinum certification in Japan, the group's agency said Thursday.

The love song received the recognition in the streaming category from the Recording Industry Association of Japan by having garnered more than 100 million streams as of February, BigHit Music said.

The association awards monthly certifications based on the cumulative number of streams of a song, with distinctions ranging from gold (over 50 million streams) to platinum (over 100 million streams) and to diamond (over 500 million streams).

Released in 2017 as the main track off "Wings You Never Walk Alone," the repackaged version of the group's second full-length album, "Spring Day" is an alternative hip-hop genre song combining Brit-rock and electronic sounds. It features a lyrical and melancholic chorus. (Yonhap)
