Relishing the return of spring, a myriad of K-pop singers will put out new music offerings next month. D.O. (May 7)

D.O., whose real name is Doh Kyung-soo, is set to release his third mini-album, "Blossom," on May 7, according to his agency, Company Soosoo. The six-track album will be the "fruit of his endless musical growth," the company explained.

It will be led by "Mars," a medium-tempo pop song portraying a couple with different personalities. Through the lyrics, it will depict how the pair attempts to overcome differences in their relationship.

"'Blossom' will also offer other quality songs that will solidify D.O.'s presence as an artist," Company Soosoo said in a statement, Thursday.

The 31-year-old floated a series of teasers on X, formerly Twitter, with one of them featuring a bicycle carrying colorful flowers.

"Like a bicycle that does not stop, D.O. has (consistently) achieved growth at his own pace in terms of music," his agency said. "Please look forward to his new musical journey."

D.O. debuted as part of EXO in 2012 with the tune, "MAMA," and made his acting debut with the film, "Cart," in 2014. In 2021, he went solo with the mini-album, "Empathy," about nine years after his group debut. Last year, he set up Company Soosoo after terminating his contract with EXO's record label, SM Entertainment, but he has been continuing his group-based activities under SM.

ZB1 (May 13)

"You had me at HELLO," the third mini-album by ZB1, will arrive on May 17. ZB1 is composed of the nine winners from the 2023 audition program "Boys Planet" — Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin, Park Gun-wook and Han Yu-jin.

It took about six months for the nonet to return with a new music offering following the release of "Melting Point" in November.

Although details about the new lead single have been kept under wraps, ZB1 will unveil "Sweat," one of the songs to be included in its upcoming album, on April 24 to whet its fans' appetites.

"'Sweat' is a dance track of house music genre, which depicts a moment of dancing under the scorching sun," Wakeone Entertainment said in a statement. "Marked by synth melodies and R&B vocals, the tune will highlight the members' distinctive voices."

Since its debut in 2023, ZB1 has been hitting the ground running in terms of album sales. Both albums "Youth in the Shade" and "Melting Point" sold more than 1 million copies each upon their releases.

NewJeans (May 24)

Sensational girl group NewJeans is poised to make a comeback with the new album, "How Sweet," May 24. The album will be fronted by the title track, according to the quintet's record label, ADOR.

Prior to the album's release, NewJeans will unveil the music video for "Bubble Gum" — one of the songs on the upcoming album — on April 27. Characterized by simple drum patterns and synth sounds, "Bubble Gum" is a tune featured in a Japanese shampoo commercial.

Member Hyein, however, is temporarily on a break due to a foot injury. ADOR said it would do its best to help her resume her activities in good health.

NewJeans, consisting of Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, has become one of the marquee names in the K-pop world immediately after its debut with the self-titled EP in 2022.

Its 2023 release, "Super Shy," has recently exceeded 500 million streams on the world's largest streaming platform Spotify, becoming the group's fourth song to reach the milestone following "OMG," "Ditto" and "Hype Boy."

Shortly after putting out "How Sweet," NewJeans will head to Japan to hold a fan event titled "Bunnies Camp 2024" at Tokyo Dome.

On top of the aforementioned acts, Yook Sung-jae of boy group BTOB will drop a new solo album on May 9 and Stray Kids will unleash "Lose My Breath" — a collaborative single with pop star Charlie Puth — the following day. Girl group aespa and Soojin, a former member of (G)I-DLE, also plan to release new music in May, but the exact dates have not been disclosed.
