Lotte Hotels & Resorts held a charity event with Wolverhampton Wonderers' South Korean Winger Hwang Hee-chan to bake and sell red bean buns at a local cooking studio in Seoul, Monday.

According to a Lotte Hotels & Resorts official, the star footballer baked a total of 1,000 red bean buns with Lotte Hotel Seoul's master chefs on the day. Each was sold for 3,000 won ($2.16). All the proceeds of the event were donated to a local charity.

"I am very happy to be part of such a meaningful event," said Hwang. "I hope the event will deliver happiness and hope through these red bean buns."

Lotte Hotel Seoul has sold red bean buns since its opening in 1979. Utilizing makgeolli, or rice wine, fermented dough mixed with toasted walnuts and fresh red beans, the bun has been the hotel's signature snack with its soft and chewy texture.

Lotte Hotels & Resorts appointed Hwang as the chain's honorary ambassador in May, and the community service event was a part of the appointment ceremony.

"Hwang joined the hotel's community service as his first event as an honorary ambassador. This is meaningful," said the chain official.

"We will continuously do our best to help the disadvantaged members of the community."
