The Brazilian TV series "Justice: Misconduct" won the grand prize in the international drama category at the Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA), the organizers said Monday.

"The series explores issues of fair judicial enforcement through the stories of four characters, and it balances both artistic merit and popular appeal," the organizers said.

The Brazilian drama follows four protagonists attempting to rebuild their lives after being released from prison after seven years.

The annual drama awards recognize excellence in three categories: the international competition, the international invitation and the Korean drama categories.

This year, a record-breaking 365 TV series from 48 countries competed in the first two sections.

The Korean historical drama "Korean Khitan War" won in the international competition category, while "Moving" director Park In-je took home the best director award. Song Kang-ho, lead actor of "Uncle Samsik," was honored with the best actor award.

The Chinese series "3 Body Problem" won both the best mini-series and best screenwriter awards.

In the international invitation category, director Park Chan-wook's "The Sympathizer," a story about a spy during and after the Vietnam War, received the Golden Bird Award, while the Japanese romance drama "Eye Love You" took home the Special Award.

The Outstanding Asian Star awards went to Byeon Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon for their roles in the fantasy romance drama "Lovely Runner."

In the K-drama category, "Moving" and "Queen of the Tears" secured the top prize.

The awards ceremony is set to take place at KBS Hall on Sept. 25 and will be broadcast on SBS TV and livestreamed on YouTube. (Yonhap)
