September is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive month in the K-pop industry, with a diverse lineup of solo artists and rookie groups vying to make their mark on the music charts.

Two members of K-pop boy group SHINee — Onew and Key — are picking up their solo act this month with new mini-albums.

Onew kicked off the month with his third mini-album, "FLOW," released on Sept. 3. This new album follows his first full-length album, "Circle," which was released in March 2023, marking a year and a half gap between the two.

Including the disco-infused hip-hop title track, "beat drum," the album has a total of six tracks that Onew took part in producing and writing lyrics. Since its release, it has topped the iTunes Top Album chart in 26 regions around the world, including Brazil, Hong Kong, and Egypt.

Key is also gearing up to roll out his third mini-album "Pleasure Shop," on Sept. 23, about a year after the second mini-album "Good & Great."

The new album will feature six tracks, primarily within the house music genre. The title track, also named "FLOW," is an electro house song with a distinctive synth pad and drum beat, and Key wrote the lyrics for this track.

"Under the theme 'pleasure shop' presented by Key, the performance will showcase a cool and trendy vibe, featuring catchy choreography, a visually stunning and spectacular stage, and will be accompanied by 12 dancers," the artist's agency, SM Entertainment, said in the release.

Singer Kang Daniel is also going to drop a new album "ACT," Sept. 23, celebrating his fifth anniversary since his solo debut in 2019.

The fifth mini-album, which comes over a year after the min-album, "REALIEZ," will have a total of five tracks that capture his journey through five years of his career.

"I paid special attention to this album for meaningful messages and sound," the artist said through his agency ARA. "I worked on it, having good vibes with good people again. You can look forward to it."

The singer is set to hold two solo concerts, "2024 KANGDANIEL CONCERT-ACT'," on Oct. 12 and 13 at Jangchung Arena in Jung District, Seoul, following the album's release.

Tzuyu of K-pop girl group TWICE dropped her first solo work, "abouTZU," last Thursday, about nine years since her debut with the group in 2015.

Her solo debut album consists of a total of six tracks, including the title track, "Run Away," and the self-written song, "Fly."

"I've included a song, in which I wrote the entire lyrics on my own for the first time, to share more of my story with fans. I've prepared a lot to show my true self and my story better (with this album)," the singer said during a press conference for the new album.

On the group front, rookies, NCT WISH, QWER and Fifty Fifty, are also gearing up to roll out their new albums.

K-pop group NCT's latest sub-unit, NCT WISH, which debuted this February, will release their first mini-album, "Steady," about two months after its second single, "Songbird." The album will be comprised of seven songs, including the title track, "Dunk Shot," and the Korean version of its previously released song, "Hands Up."

The six-member group will release the title track on Monday, offering a preview of their upcoming album.

Earlier this month, girl band QWER announced the release of its new mini-album, "Algorithm's Blossom," which will come out on Sept. 23, about five months after its first mini-album, "MANITO."

The group, which debuted in October 2023 with the single, "Harmony from Discord," shot to stardom with the previous album's title track, "T.B.H."

"(With the new album), QWER will unfold the story of forging its new destiny as a team under the keyword 'a flower bloomed by algorithm,'" the band's agency Tamago Production said.

Girl group Fifty Fifty is slated to release its second mini-album, "Love Tune," on Sept. 20, under a newly reorganized group as a five piece act.

The K-pop sensation, which rose to global fame with its hit song, "Cupid," last year, recruited four new members to join its member, Keena, after three of the original members left the group after a legal dispute.

With the title track, "SOS," the upcoming mini-album will have a total of six tracks, including "Starry Night."
