SI Securities has appointed Kim Seung-yeon, former head of Toss Securities, as its new CEO, according to the brokerage, Monday.
The board of SI Securities approved the motion, with Kim to assume the role of the company's inside director after receiving approval at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on Oct. 29.
Kim's previous career experience spans globally influential firms, including Google and TikTok. He resigned as Toss Securities CEO six months before his term was set to expire.
Kim's experience, combined with his expertise in platform businesses, will bolster SI's goals of fortified global expansion, retail and business-to-consumer services, it said.
"Kim is expected to play a vital role for the continued growth of our firm from within the country and abroad," the company said.
Kim headed top global accounts for the Asia-Pacific region at Google from June 2007 to June 2011.
He managed top-level relationships and pitched, closed and coordinated programs for joint business planning with Samsung, Toyota, Sony, Hyundai Motor and P&G.
From November 2021 to March 2023, he was general manager at TikTok for Global Business Solutions in Southeast Asia. At the time, he managed one of the largest sales teams and oversaw revenue responsibilities for TikTok across all product solutions, including ad business solutions and ad product sales.
Kim holds a master's degree in neuroscience from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and an executive MBA in marketing from INSEAD (Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires).
