Sportstoto Korea, the country's official sports betting service, is running a promotional event through Sunday to encourage users to sign up for its website, Betman.co.kr.

The company said on Thursday that it partnered with domestic sports organizations such as the Korean Basketball League, the Women's Korean Basketball League and the Korean Volleyball Federation to host the promotions, introducing a new way of enjoying winter professional sports and promoting Sportstoto as a leisure activity, enhancing the excitement of watching sporting events.

To participate, users can sign up on the website by clicking a pop-up of the promotion. Those who sign up during the event period will receive bet money worth 5,000 won.

According to Sportstoto Korea, more than 14,000 new users have signed up for its website since it launched the promotion on Oct. 18, gaining an average of approximately 500 new members per day. Given the remaining period, the total number of new members is expected to easily surpass 15,000.

"Winter season professional sports such as basketball and volleyball appeal to a diverse fan base across all age groups," a Sportstoto Korea official said. "Many fans who have enjoyed sports but were unaware of Sportstoto are discovering a fun new way of watching games through this event."

Along with the sign-up promotion, Sportstoto is now running a separate promo for users who purchased various Toto and Proto games, awarding 10,000 won of bet money each for a total of 6,000 participants.

Since April 2023, Sportstoto has allowed foreign residents in Korea to sign up for the Betman website, to provide more convenient options for expat sports fans.

Sportstoto is run by Sportstoto Korea on behalf of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. Proceeds from the betting business contribute to the National Sports Promotion Fund to promote daily sports, professional sports and sports welfare for all citizens.
