Known for producing major acts including TWICE, Stray Kids and ITZY, entertainment giant JYP has unveiled KickFlip, a new boy band set to debut as the label's first major act of 2025.

JYP announced KickFlip's debut Friday, launching the group's social media channels to the delight of K-pop fans worldwide. According to the announcement, KickFlip will debut on Jan. 1 as a seven-member team. The group's name is derived from a skateboarding trick involving a 360-degree board rotation, symbolizing skill and precision.

While details about the seven members remain under wraps, it is speculated that trainees who gained recognition through SBS' 2021 survival audition show "LOUD" may be part of the lineup. JYP had planned to debut a group featuring these trainees in 2022, but the project was postponed.

Hints about KickFlip were first revealed Thursday during the 2024 MAMA Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. In a video message, JYP founder and chief producer Park Jin-young shared that the group was in the "final stages of preparation," as a silhouetted image of the seven members accompanied the message.

JYP added that further details about KickFlip will be gradually released through the group's social media accounts as well as the agency's website.

"Like the trick that flips the board to propel forward, KickFlip aims to break free from conventions and make a fresh impact as it kicks off 2025 in style," the agency said.

KickFlip's upcoming debut continues JYP's legacy of producing successful boy groups that have left a mark on the industry, including 2PM and GOT7. Stray Kids, who debuted under the label in 2018, has become a global juggernaut, with all of the members renewing their contracts in July to signal continued activity.
