Prosecutors were questioning Land Minister Park Sang-woo, Saturday, as part of a widening investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law declaration earlier this month, officials said.
The special prosecution team handling the matter called Park in for questioning over his alleged involvement in the short-lived martial law imposition Dec. 3.
Park has said that he failed to attend a Cabinet meeting convened by Yoon right before declaring martial law in a surprise late-night televised address, due to traffic issues. The meeting was attended by Yoon and around 10 Cabinet members.
But Park attended another Cabinet meeting held hours later meant to lift the martial law imposition after the National Assembly voted to reject it.
Prosecutors have brought in Cabinet members for questioning about their knowledge and alleged involvement in the martial law imposition.
Last Saturday, the National Assembly voted to impeach Yoon amid strong protests against him, while Yoon has claimed that it was an act of governing and he will fight to the end. (Yonhap)
