Paris Baguette opened new stores in Vancouver, further expanding its presence in the Canadian market following Toronto and Calgary, the Korean bakery giant SPC said on Thursday.

The ninth Paris Baguette store in Canada opened on Friday (local time) in Coquitlam, east of Vancouver, British Columbia, and the 10th on Alberni Street the next day in downtown Vancouver.

The company said the Coquitlam store experienced a strong start on its opening day, with around 100 visitors lining up before it opened, purchasing 4,500 bread and cake items throughout the day.

SPC designated the two latest stores as strategic bases for Paris Baguette's market in Vancouver and the surrounding area. The company noted that Coquitlam is becoming a key future business hub for the greater Vancouver area, with numerous urban development projects underway. Meanwhile, Alberni Street has seen significant growth in retail, with high-end brand stores and hotels concentrated in the area.

SPC has set its two stores apart by featuring "chausson aux pommes" (apple turnovers), "pain au chocolat" (chocolate croissants), "feuilleté au chocolat" (buttery pastry twists) and whipped cream cakes as signature items.

"Vancouver, with its multicultural community and outstanding economic growth within Canada, is a perfect city where we can connect to diverse groups of customers," an SPC official said.
