Korean singer-songwriter Sogumm collaborated with high-end audio brand KEF to host an intimate evening, creating a unique and immersive sound experience for music enthusiasts.

Sogumm, known for her dreamy and enigmatic vocals, shared tracks that have personally inspired her and helped shape her musical journey at Listen Seoul, part of KEF's intimate listening event series across the globe, in December.

Her curated playlist resonated through the rich, detailed sound of KEF's LS60 Wireless, LS50 Wireless II, and KC62 Subwoofer speakers. These high-fidelity audio systems, engineered to replicate the clarity and depth of live performances, provided an immersive listening experience, allowing attendees to connect deeply with the music, according to KEF.

Sogumm's playlist revealed a wide-ranging appreciation for music, from classical choral pieces such as "ALLEGRI: MISERERE" by Peter Phillips and The Tallis Scholars, which she described as soul-cleansing, to groundbreaking electronic compositions by musicians like Raymond Scott and Aphex Twin. Scott's "Nursery Rhyme" is noted for its rhythmic, calming effect, while Aphex Twin's "To Cure a Weakling Child" features surreal, childlike vocals over irregular rhythms, reflecting the blend of the familiar and bizarre in Sogumm's style.

She also included unconventional tracks, such as NASA's "The Sounds of Earth" from the Voyager Golden Record, expressing a desire to create for extraterrestrial audiences. Other selections like "Portal 1" by Robert Stillman and "Hair Air" by Inoyomaland showcased her love for meditative and environmental sounds, while songs such as "Feet-Like Fins" by Cocteau Twins and "Poplar" by K. Yoshimatsu highlighted her affinity for ambient music.

Sogumm also performed two of her new songs, adding a personal touch to the evening's intimate atmosphere.

While the event was organized by KEF to showcase its cutting-edge audio systems, the focus was refreshingly more on the music and the artist than on the products, setting it apart from typical audio events.

"We are thrilled to bring ‘Listen Seoul' to South Korea's vibrant music and cultural scene," said Grace Lo, President and Head of Global Marketing at KEF. "Our previous ‘Listen' events have delighted music lovers, we aim to continue this reception through the power of high-fidelity and topical collaborations, focusing on delivering sound as the artist originally intended."

As part of KEF's ongoing "Listen" series, the Seoul event joins past editions in Amsterdam, Tokyo, Melbourne and London, celebrating the intersection of local culture and global sound innovation. Like its predecessors, the Seoul session will be documented in a collectible zine, capturing the interplay between Sogumm's eclectic musical palette and KEF's audio expertise.

In addition to the Listen series, KEF offers another program for audiophiles — the KEF Vinyl Sessions. Hosted at KEF Music Galleries in Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo and select vinyl stores, including Stereophonic Sound in Seoul, this initiative invites listeners to rediscover vinyl records through the Q Concerto Meta, KEF's latest three-way speaker inspired by the 1969 Concerto loudspeakers.
