Hyundai Mobis unveiled the world's first full-windshield holographic display at the CES 2025 tech trade show, hoping to redefine the future of in-vehicle display technology, the auto parts maker said Thursday.

The display enables drivers to watch essential information, such as navigation, and entertainment features such as music playlists, seamlessly and transparently on the front windshield. The company partnered with ZEISS, a renowned German optical firm, to co-develop the next-generation display technology.

Hyundai Mobis will complete development of the product in the first half of 2025, with a plan to commercialize it as early as 2027.

The company garnered attention at the world's largest tech fair by promoting the display integrated into Kia's EV9 electric SUV. The holographic display helps transform the windshield into a transparent screen without any additional display devices.

The display delivers crystal-clear visuals for drivers and passengers even under bright outdoor conditions. This is enabled by the high brightness and superior color reproduction of the display, according to the company.

"We are going to accelerate our entry into the global market with value-added core products and industry-leading tech prowess," Hyundai Mobis CEO Lee Gyu-suk said.

"Hyundai Mobis will continue to showcase diverse new technologies preemptively."

During the IT exhibition, Lee met with ZEISS CEO Karl Lamprecht at the former's booth to elevate their tech partnership. Both sides discussed details on their future business collaboration and mass production of the product.

Hyundai Mobis held more than 30 meetings with its clients across the globe at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, showcasing 16 strategic products. They include the holographic windshield display, electrification components and chassis car systems.
