LS Cable & System, along with its subsidiaries, is accelerating its efforts to secure market leadership and future growth drivers by leveraging its unique technological capabilities to keep pace with the rapid growth of the AI data center industry, according to the Korean major power cable and system developer, Tuesday.

The demand comes primarily from global Big Tech companies. The Korean company, with its key products like superconductor cables, submarine cables and ultracapacitors, is trying to lead the global market.

LS Eco Energy is expanding its superconductor cable markets throughout Vietnam and the United States. Superconductor cables are designed to maximize efficiency in power transmission without emitting electromagnetic waves, increasing environmental safety, according to the company. The company said it has commercialized the cable for the first time in the world.

It earned global recognition earlier this month at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, where it won the CES Innovation Award for its superconductor cable that can be combined with a fault current limiter developed by LS Electric, another subsidiary of LS Group. LS Cable & System said that since the U.S. has begun reducing imports from China, it expects U.S. demand for its superconductor cables to increase.

LS Marine Solution is experiencing consistent sales growth with its submarine cables. By repairing and maintaining the cables that are currently underwater around the Asia-Pacific region, the company has generated annual sales amounting to tens of billions of won.

The company expects the global submarine cable market to grow each year by an average of 5 percent. It is also anticipating new opportunities from Meta's plan to invest 13 trillion won ($8.9 billion) in installing over 40,000 kilometers of submarine cables. Meta is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

LS Materials is accelerating its expansion into the AI data center market through collaboration with global power infrastructure company Vertiv. LS Materials is the world's top manufacturer of ultracapacitors, which are also referred to as next-generation secondary batteries.

Its ultracapacitors recharge and discharge more than 20 times faster than conventional lithium-ion batteries (LIB) and have a lifespan over 1,000 times longer, ensuring stable power supply even amid rapid power load fluctuations in data centers.

"We will continue to lead the global market and achieve sustainable growth with innovative technologies such as superconducting cables, submarine communication networks and ultracapacitors," an LS Cable & System official said.
