Online-only financial companies outpace mainstream offline banks in customer satisfaction for mobile app services, a survey showed Wednesday.

The survey, conducted by market researcher Consumer Insight on more than 20,000 adults nationwide in 2024, showed mobile-only lender Toss Bank topped the list of most popular financial apps.

It retained the No. 1 position for the second straight year, scoring 76.9 points in 2023 and then 78 points in 2024.

The financial service arms of two tech giants — Kakao and Naver — retained the second- and third-highest positions, respectively, for the second year in a row.

KakaoBank was in the runner-up place after scoring 76.6 points last year, followed by Naver Pay, which earned 75.4 points.

NH NongHyup Bank was in fourth place with 75 points, being the highest-ranked company among the five biggest offline banks, including KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank and Woori Bank.

Shinhan was in sixth place, and KB was in 10th.

Meanwhile, Kbank improved from 23rd in 2023 to seventh, marking the steepest rise among all listed companies.

The survey came as tech firms are capitalizing on their digital prowess as mobile platform operators to muscle into the digital banking industry.
