Investigators on Wednesday provided impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol with a lunch box after questioning him in the morning over his short-lived imposition of martial law last month.

Investigators, led by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), took Yoon into custody earlier in the day and have been questioning him at the anti-corruption agency's office in Gwacheon, just south of Seoul.

A CIO official told reporters that investigators ordered a lunch box for Yoon to eat in a resting area but could not confirm whether he ate it, adding they did not know the menu.

Investigators questioned Yoon for about 2 1/2 hours from 11 a.m. after they executed a warrant for his detention at his residence in central Seoul. They resumed questioning him at 2:40 p.m. after an hourlong lunch break. (Yonhap)
