Foreigners will be able to apply online for a job reference for their expertise from the government, starting July 2.

Now they have to fill out paper forms.

The Ministry of Justice said on Wednesday the new service will be available through its website.

The reference helps foreigners get through their visa assessment

Applicants who sign up for C-4 and E1-7 visas have expertise in one of 80 different professions, such as teaching at universities.

According to the ministry, foreign experts working in Korea under the C-4 and E1-7 visas numbered 46,966 in May.

Chinese accounted for 12,550, followed by 9,579 Americans, 3,114 Filipinos and 2,494 Vietnamese, the data shows.
