A victim of Japan's wartime sexual slavery has died. She was 92.

Lee Gwi-nyeo, who was forced into prostitution at Japanese military brothels during World War II, died of cerebral infarction and other diseases.

According to the Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan, she was only 17 years old when she was forced to work at the military brothels in Rehe Province, China.

Including Lee, eight such victims have died this year. Now the number of registered Korean survivors is dwindling at 25.

Historians estimate that up to 200,000 women, mostly from Korea, were forced to work in front-line brothels for Japanese troops during the war.
