Ryu Seung-ryong, Lim Soo-jung to star in new Disney+ series

Actors Ryu Seung-ryong, Lim Soo-jung, and Yang Se-jong have teamed up for the Disney+ original series, "The Hooligans" (tentative title), scheduled for release in 2025.

The streaming platform announced the cast members for its upcoming title, Monday.

Based on the webtoon of the same name by Yoon Tae-Ho, the series will follow individuals setting out to dig up treasure from a ship sunk on the coast off South Jeolla Province in the 1970s.

The series is led by filmmaker Kang Yun-sung, who previously led the platform's hit series "Big Bet," and the crime action film "The Outlaws" (2017).

Along with the three lead actors, actors Lee Dong-hwi, Chung Yun-ho, Kim Sung-oh, Kim Eui-sung, and Hong Gi-jun will also star in the series.

Ryu recently drew the global spotlight with Disney+'s smash-hit series "Moving," which won him the Best Actor accolade at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards last year. He is also shortlisted for Best Actor in TV Series for this year's Baeksang Arts Awards, set to be held on May 7.

His latest work is Netflix's comedy mystery series "Chicken Nugget," led by director Lee Byeong-heon who led the hit comedy film "Extreme Job" (2019).

Lim will be making a small screen return with this new Disney+ series since she played the lead role in 2021 romance series "Melancholia."

The actor recently starred in the star-studded comedy film "Cobweb," led by filmmaker Kim Jee-woon, and the romantic comedy film "Single in Seoul," last year.

Yang, who debuted in 2016 with a supporting role in the hit medical series "Dr. Romantic," has played lead roles in various series, including the romance series "Temperature of Love" (2017) and the period series "My Country: The New Age" (2019).

He recently starred in Netflix's romance series "Doona!" last year, led by the star director Lee Jung-hyo who is known for directing the hit series "Crash Landing on You" (2019).
