South Korea has decided to provide $7 million in humanitarian assistance to Ethiopia this year to help cope with a food shortage and other challenges, the foreign ministry said Wednesday.

South Korean Ambassador to Geneva Yun Seong-deok revealed the plan during the High-level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Situation in Ethiopia, which was held in Switzerland the previous day, according to the foreign ministry.

South Korea will also send 13,582 tons of rice to Ethiopia to assist its people struggling with the food shortage, it added. (Yonhap)
