One on-base streak is alive, but another has ended for Korean players in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, helping his team defeat the New York Mets 5-2 at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Monday (local time).

Lee had an 11-game hitting streak snapped Sunday when he drew a walk and got hit by a pitch, and promptly resumed his hitting ways with a single in the bottom of the third inning off Mets starter Jose Quintana. He has now reached base safely in 13 consecutive games.

In hitting a single to right field while down 0-2 in the count, Lee showed off his impressive bat control, as he went down and put the barrel on Quintana's slurve on the low outside corner.

Lee later came around to score on a double by Matt Chapman that made it a 4-0 game for the Giants.

Lee, who grounded out in the first and the fifth innings, drew a four-pitch walk against reliever Sean Reid-Foley in the seventh in his final plate appearance.

Lee is now batting .284 with an on-base percentage of .343. He leads the Giants with 25 hits, which also put him in second place among all MLB rookies, one behind Jackson Merrill of the San Diego Padres.

The Padres beat the Colorado Rockies 3-1 at Coors Field in Denver on Monday, but their Korean shortstop Kim Ha-seong went 0-for-4.

Kim lined out in the second, flied out in the third and grounded out in the sixth. Then in the eighth, Kim bounced into a 4-6-3 double play.

With the hitless day, Kim's on-base streak came to a halt at 10 games. He is batting .216 this season but leads the team with 16 walks and six steals. (Yonhap)
