Uzbekistan and South Korea, marking their 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, are successfully cooperating in many directions. Education is one of the key spheres of collaboration between the two nations.

Inha University in Tashkent is the symbol of cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in education and the only fully fledged educational program of the South Korean university in the world.

The university in Tashkent was established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop educational programs for the IT industry, based on the valuable experience of South Korea in IT.

The decision to open Inha University in Tashkent was made in March 2014 and after six months, it accepted its first students. Currently, Inha University in Tashkent provides high-quality educational services to about 1,100 students in such majors as “Computer and Information Engineering” and “Logistics.”

Inha University in Tashkent has become one of the top universities of Uzbekistan in just three years. Each year, the number of young people who want to study at Inha University in Tashkent is growing.
In line with the bilateral agreement, Inha University in South Korea ensures control over the organization of entrance exams and academic processes in the educational programs of Inha University in Tashkent.

Inha University in Tashkent pays great attention to entrance exams, which are one of the most transparent and open in Uzbekistan. To ensure transparency and openness, the university invites local mass media experts to observe the examination process and organize live streaming of the exams, so parents and other people can witness the whole exam process.

Another important issue is that Inha University in South Korea prepares all exam questions and delivers them to Uzbekistan, along with exam specialists a day before the exams. After the entrance exams, Korean professors at Inha University in South Korea mark all exam papers. This ensures that only the best applicants can enroll in the university.

The quality of education is one of the key factors for the success of Inha University in Tashkent. Korean professors manage the faculty recruitment and academic life of the university. Currently, about 60 percent of the faculty are foreign specialists. However, Inha University in Tashkent, in cooperation with its South Korean partners, launched a joint project training local faculty.

This year, Inha University in Tashkent, in cooperation with its South Korean partners, successfully launched the 3+1 program. With this program, 99 senior students of Inha University in Tashkent are studying on the campus in Incheon. The program combines various trips and cultural events aimed at encouraging better understanding between the two nations and strengthening relations.

Inha University in Tashkent and Inha University in South Korea are working on the expansion of educational programs offered to young people in Uzbekistan. Currently, there are plans to introduce new Bachelor and Master’s programs.

Since the student population in Korea is decreasing, South Korean universities are considering opening branches in other countries to maintain and even expand their operations. The experience of Inha University could serve as a good case for study.
