Acting President Choi Sang-mok on Sunday urged government officials to take "extra caution" to prevent injuries to both civil servants and citizens during law enforcement activities.

"In such challenging situations, injuries to civil servants carrying out public duties should never occur," Choi said in a brief statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The acting president also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of both citizens and public officials during the enforcement of the law.

Although Choi did not refer to a specific case, there was a physical clash between members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and the police the previous day.

KCTU members attempted to march near President Yoon Suk Yeol's residence, but they were blocked by police. Over the course, two were detained for allegedly assaulting police officers. (Yonhap)
